Following is a summary of the outreach programs provided
by the Wenham COA
 
  • Outreach Coordinator - a staff member who will make home visits to those seniors who may need information/referrals to social programs, medical programs, transportaion etc.  If you would like a home visit, please call the COA office at 468-5529 to schedule an appointment.

  • A monthly newsletter is mailed around the first of the month to every senior resident in Wenham.  If you are not receiving the newsletter, please contact Susan Carp at 468-5529 or sign up on the Home Page.                                 
  • The COA Director is very involved with TRIAD.  What is TRIAD?  TRIAD is a partnership which involves Senior Citizens, Law Enforcement Agencies (Sheriff / Police / District Attorney) and Support / Protective Services (Councils on Aging / Elder Services / Clergy, etc.) who agree to work together. Their primary goals are to reduce the criminal victimization of older citizens and enhance the delivery of services to this population. TRIAD provides the opportunity for an exchange of information between law enforcement, support services and senior citizens. It focuses on reducing unwarranted fear of crime and improving the quality of life for seniors.

    The Town of Wenham TRIAD Council currently offers The File of Life, the Yellow Dot Program and Grab and Go Bags.  The File of Life is a red plastic magnetic file folder that attaches to your refrigerator. The file contains vitally important information about you so that emergency medical professionals have quick access to your basic medical information.   The Yellow Dot program was created to help senior citizens communicate during an automobile accident, when they might not be able to communicate for themselves.  Participants receive a yellow dot sticker to place on their car's back window alerting emergency services personnel to look for the corresponding yellow folder in the glove compartment. The folder contains current medical information, a photo, hospital preferences and contact numbers.    Grab and Go Bags are bags for you to pack, with items that may be needed in the event you may have to leave your home quickly.  Already included in the bags are personal first aid kits, a toothbrush and toothpaste, emergency contact list for you to complete, and a suggested list of items for you to include.  Please call the COA office if you are interested in picking up a bag.  The Town of Wenham TRIAD Council meets the third Monday of every month.   You can check the calendar of this web site for TRIAD meetings and upcoming programs.  Any questions regarding TRIAD,  please do not hesitate to call the  COA office at 978-468-5529.
